The Alternatives
- Medications to kill the symptoms and stop the body's warning signals
Surgery
- While invasive surgery is sometimes necessary.
- It is a LAST RESORT !
- The risks and complications associated with surgery are very high.
- Success rates and long term outcomes for back surgery are poor.
Your 1st Visit to the Clinic (Inc. Symptomatic Treatment only)
- Your chiropractor needs a complete picture of your health in order to provide the best possible treatment for you as an individual.
- A full medical and health history is taken.
-
You will be asked about personal and family medical history, including surgeries, medications, lifestyle activities and your symptoms (or body signals).
- A thorough exam will then be performed and this will include Orthopaedic, Neurological and Chiropractic tests to help ascertain the problem areas.
- X-rays or MRI scans will be taken or ordered if necessary
The "Report Of Findings" Visit (Scheduled Treatment starts)
- This is when your Dr will explain what is wrong and what can be done to fix it.
- If chiropractic can help you a course of care will usually be recommended.
- Your individualised Care Plan or treatment schedule will be designed to give your body the best chance of healing.
Types of Treatments/Procedures
- Chiropractors use many specialized techniques to identify and treat these spinal abnormalities and optimize overall health and the main technique used is the Adjustment
- Some types of adjustment can cause a popping sound to occur in the joint
- Others types use special tables and devices to deliver the specific force to the involved area.
- Chiropractors also use Soft Tissue Techniques (work on muscles, tendons & ligaments)
- Posture education and rehabilitative exercise will be prescribed.
- Nutritional, dietary and lifestyle advice might also be offered.
Safety
- Chiropractic is very safe!
- The scientific literature estimates the risk of serious injury between 1 in 400 000 to 1 in several million from Chiropractic Adjustment.
- Thankfully, when compared to most medical procedures side effects and adverse reactions from chiropractic are very small.
